Konkan TV Rocks

Posted on February 20th, 2007 in General by daya

Recently Launched Konkan.TV Rocks with excess usage of 6,000GB bandwidth and Google page rank of 4. The site at another Web 2.0 featured site, similar to Y-tube and other video sharing site, with web 2.0 look and feel and features. Though the site targets Konkan Indian Community from Goa and Mangalore part of India, (Very sweet people move with, I have lots of Konkani friends though) we saw very wide varsities of interesting videos, some of them could dangerously fall in to copy right problems.

Similar to Smugmug the online photo sharing site, Konkan TV, also seems to be using Amazon S3 the Simple storage system from Amazon for the storing of the videos posted by the user.

In spite of of the pagerank sadly the site never seems to have made it Vdoogle.com New search engine VDoogle lets you search for video across multiple sites, including Dailymotion, Google Video, iFilm, and YouTube. The site currently indexes 14 video sharing sites. If its search results look familiar, that's because VDoogle is built on Google's new custom search engine.

In konkan tv, we saw shilpa shetty dancing with her sister. Aparantly these two young bollywood chicks also from Mangalore.  Users are able to upload video content of any length to the site, but total file size must remain under 100MB. They can also tag videos, search for videos by tag, and leave comments for other users to read.  But Konkan.TV does not offer nifty features like Soapboxs  such as uploading taking place in the background of the web browser without requiring a standalone application and users can browse the available video selection while continuing to play another video on the side.

We felt the Konkan.Tv look and feel should have been vibrant, considering the Vibrant Community it is targeting, but sadly we left out with yet another adsense site, as Google's ads are prominent every where, even sometime, more than the Video itself.

Jaykar thanks, and Arun, he was not my friend, i felt, he or she should be encouraged for the work they are trying. I have been honest with the review including talking about copy right, the look and feel and adsense aspect, so where is the question of bad review, and he is being my friend. regards daya

thanks for the post daya. I appreciate it. Folks can easily complain about streaming speeds etc, but have no clue on what it costs to serve such content as bandwidth costs are not equivalent to buying pan-puri.. well, in this day and age, pani-puri aint cheap either…

@arun. I would like to say, that those who stay under the covers and point fingers are nothing but cowards, who are all talk no action. Why use a fake name and a fake url and post comments. I would give your comments due credit if you had the courage to post it as yourself. Also. whats YOUR definition of “sensation” it would be quite amusing and interesting to hear your view on what “sensation” really means…

Hi , I saw konkantv… as Arun said, its one of the poor sites which makes people to waste their valuable time infront of the monitor. I think Rohan Pinto did nt understand the importance of time. There are many sites which are faster as compared to this site.
Why Rohan have to get irritated for the comments somebody is posting. here the opinions are posted not the blastings.
Rohan, your website is so poor that we dont feel like entering again. I had to feel sorry for wasting my valuable time on this. The videos seems to be copied from the various sites. It does not have the originality.
I dont think this site will last for long…

I found this new desi-video site http://www.mastitube.com, which doesn’t have much ads and has a layout better than others (of course not as good as http://www.youtube.com). As you mentioned in your article, my primary reason for sticking to http://www.mastitube.com is less ads and video tagging than other sites.
