Ultimate Free Mobile Application -from Yahoo!.

Yahoo! has just released Yahoo! Go 2.0, a mobile app designed to bring all of your Yahoo! services together in one tight little package.

Basically, Yahoo! Go bundles Yahoo! search, maps, email, news (including sports, finance, entertainment, and weather), and Flickr into a mobile app optimized for the small screen. Flickr lovers should be happy to note that uploading photos and browsing your Flickr library with Yahoo! Go looks like a breeze. Compared to Google’s scattered, standalone equivalents, like Gmail Mobile and Google Maps Mobile, Yahoo! Go looks like a very nice, full-featured, all-in-one solution. It’d be great to see something similar from Google.

However, the number of phones supported by Yahoo! Go is a bit on the small side (averaging about 4 supported phones/carrier), and it doesn’t currently support my phone (yesterday it said a version for my phone was “coming soon” - today it doesn’t show up at all), so I haven’t been able to give it a thorough testing. Oh, and one more thing. If the name Yahoo! Go sounds familiar, it’s probably because it’s what Yahoo! was calling their rebranded, freeware DVR software, which, strangely enough, redirects to Yahoo! Go mobile. Anybody know what happened to that? — Adam Pash
